Here's everything you need to know to take advantage of this opportunity.

Who Can Apply?

The Foundation supports a variety of public safety agencies and qualified donees, including:

• Governmental fire, police, and EMS departments
• Registered Canadian municipalities
• Registered charities and nonprofit organizations
• Organizations performing a function of government in Canada
• 🔁 Note: Previous grant recipients must wait 2 years before reapplying.

What Can the Grant Be Used For?

The Foundation focuses on funding lifesaving equipment that directly supports public safety. Grant awards typically range from $25,000 to $35,000, with a maximum request of $55,000 CAD.

Ineligible items include:

• Exercise equipment
• Firearms and use-of-force equipment
• Mascot costumes (e.g., Sparky the Fire Dog)
• Family support services
•  Event sponsorships       

Required Documentation

To be considered, applicants must submit a digital application along with these required documents:

1. Vendor Equipment Quote

• Must include sales rep’s name and email
• Must be dated within 6 months of the application deadline
• Must be in Canadian dollars with tax (HST/PST/GST) included
• Only one quote per application (no mixed equipment categories)
• Quotes must match the request amount exactly

Online quotes and multiple vendor quotes will result in an incomplete application.

2. Financial Documentation

Acceptable documents include:

• Balance sheet
• Profit & loss statement
• Annual budget or audit
• Financials must show both revenue and expenses.

3. Equipment Inventory

If your organization owns apparatus or specialized gear, include a list (e.g., fire trucks, extrication tools, PPE). If not, submit a document confirming no applicable inventory.

Application Tips & Common Mistakes

Avoid these pitfalls to ensure your application is considered:

• Missing or unmatched quote values
• Submitting more than one vendor quote
• Omitting required documents
• Applying for reimbursement of already purchased equipment (not allowed)

·   How to Apply

Applications are reviewed twice a year. After submission:

• You’ll receive a confirmation email within 96 hours
• Approval or denial notifications are emailed within 6 weeks of the application deadline
• If your application is successful, your organization may be asked to:
  • Acknowledge the grant with a Foundation logo on equipment
  • Participate in a media event at a local Firehouse Subs restaurant        

Additional Notes

Preference is given to departments located within 96 km (60 miles) of a Firehouse Subs restaurant, but rural applicants are still encouraged to apply.

While not mandatory, it’s recommended to notify your local Firehouse Subs location about your application.
