| Since police officers may be the first responders on a scene, you never know exactly what situation or type of hazards you will encounter. To assist others effectively, you must first protect yourself. Today, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is not just for firefighters. Given the nature of police work—not to mention the traditional threats from suspects with weapons and explosives—the hazards that officers can encounter are endless and often unknown.
